A 19 year old Remus moves in with one of his best friends, Sirius, hoping to find a job in the city.
Poor Lupin, seems he keeps on getting hired only to be "let go" when it slips that he's a werewolf. So, that's why he's in London. Bigger city, more jobs.
Sirius, happy to have a flatmate because even though he'd never admit it, he's one sad lonely sod, lays down the ground rules. "To stay with me. You must to listen to punk."
Oh, you know, Sirius would so be a punk rocker. It's the late 70's, he's rebellious and he drives a motorbike. Not only that, he knows it would just piss off his family even more.
So, Lupin listens and it turns out he likes it. Well, most of it. He can't get into the heavy stuff like Oi. But he adores the Adverts, Adicts, Generation X, Clash and of course, the Buzzcocks with "Sneaky" being his favorite song by them. Still, he never takes on the punk look, happy to dress like a wizard in robes than copy Sirius' leather jacket style.
Then the Potters are murdered and Sirius takes the blame.
Lupin stops listening to punk because it hurts too much. Instead he goes back to the wizard world music he listened to as kid. Big band. Classical. Jazz.
Then Sirius is cleared and hides out in his family house. Lupin visits with all of the old records he kept over the years. And the two bond again.
At least Remus being into punk would explain how he got with Tonks, who is a young punk herself.
She was probably humming some old punk tune and Lupin asked if that was The Damned's "Melody Lee"? Impressed, she said, "Yes" and asked how did he know.
And from there a relationship was born....
sheesh, I think of these things too much......
(On an unrelated note, this was drawn and colored while listening to the Buzzcocks. Seriously, if you don't know who the band is, give them a listen. You'll probably recognize a few of their songs seeing how they are often used in commercials and movies, especially "Have you ever fallen in love....?" and "What do I get?" Well, what are you waiting for? Go! Listen!)
That is an amazing piece of artwork! I love it, the look on their faces is so perfect to their personalities -- well, before the Potters were murdered anyway. The backstory is brilliant, it fits in perfectly. Love <3
I'm not a punk fan personally, only because I haven't really tried it. Maybe I'll try listening!
Oh, do give the Buzzcocks a try. They are punk music for people who don't like or have never listened to punk music before. They're songs are super catchy. And thank you!

Do I spy with my little eye a "Dumbledore's Army" patch
