living in America, Good God, HA!

Sun Jul 4, 2010, 11:22 AM
Happy 4th of July, my fellow American Deviants, I have this question for you;

What are some of your favorite things about the USA?

I don't mean the big, intangible things like life, liberty and the ability to pursue happiness, but small things that you can only find in the US or are made specifically by Americans like Crayola Crayons, Krispie Kreme doughnuts, Gretsch guitars, Gray's Papaya or the biggest ball of twine.

To my non-American Deviants, not to leave you out, where are you from and what are some of the little things you like about your country?

My personal list of favorite American things;

Michael Emerson's Ben Linus
Supernatural (TV) (Yeah, it's filmed in Canada but, dammit, it's created, written and stars Americans.)
Flip Video Cameras (A mini-godsend)
Rice Krispie Treats
Steve McQueen
Joe Pitt Casebook novels
Colonial Williamsburg
The National Mall (no, not that mall. That Mall.)
Cherry Blow Pops
Iggy Pop
NY, DC, LA punk rock!
How Southerners butcher their "t's". The word "right" is never pronounced "right" it's pronounced "rye" and "button" has no "t's" in the pronunciation what so ever.
The ability to find a Chinese and Mexican restaurant even in the smallest of podunk towns.
The word "podunk" and the fact that there are still slang American terms that the rest of the world hasn't learned through our traveling pop culture.
The Goddamn Batman!
James Brown's "Living in America" Because it's a cheesy, fantastic song that will get most Americans dancing like James Brown.
